Oniro Restaurant Update
At the start of February we reported that Oniro Restaurant had been demolished. Apparently they are rebuilding it over the next couple of years, with a temporary restaurant appearing in the meantime. We popped down the other day to see how they were getting on.
Updated Ice Cream Parlour
Oniro Restaurant is a popular spot, and lots of people were horrified to see it was getting knocked down. However, it soon became known that the measure was only temporary, and that the owners were doing a major upgrade. The location is very well known, because the wreck of the Edro III is right next to it, and that is a very popular tourist draw.
It looks like the owners of the Ice Cream Parlour opposite Oniro have also stepped in to fill the void. It appears to have been given its own makeover to a Coffee Shop.
And yes, the clouds really were that dark. We had some rain, but it is sunny as I sit and write this on tuesday morning in another Coffee Shop in downtown Paphos.

Last time we visited I was able to wander around the site, as the demolition work had ended but the construction work was yet to begin. That wasn't possible today, so I would have to be content with walking around the border.
Windy Day
There was a bit of a gale blowing when we visited so I didn't send the drone up. You will have to rely on regular shots I'm afraid. Also, there is a barrier around the site now, at least on this side, so I shall walk round the other side to see what we can see.
Nice View
The restaurant location is excellent, you have some lovely views here, especially when the sea is a bit rough.
The Other Side
The barrier extended quite a way around the site, to just past the coastal entrance to the restaurant, which is obviously closed at the moment.

Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
