Winter Roads

Speaking of mud, I want to get serious for a minute. With the coming rains, off-roading gets a bit trickier. Farm roads, such as this, soon become quagmires. If you do decide to go exploring, be very careful. Routes you took in the summer may no longer be passable. We always carry a spade or a zapper with us, in case we have to dig ourselves out.

Anyway, back to the skies and clouds. They really looked magnificent today.

Distant Pano Panagia

Polemi and the surrounding countryside is turning green again. It never ceases to amaze me how beautiful and green Cyprus is in the Springtime. In a few short months the countryside will be awash with spring flowers and grass meadows. Before that though, we will have winter to contend with. Those distant hills will become snow-capped, and we will have to wrap up warm.

Polemi Vines

There's Polemi again, through a nice, regimental vineyard. One day I will do a blog of the village. However, I am taking my time, as I want it to be extra special. It is a lovely place to live and I want to do it justice.

The Once And Future Tulip Field

This last cloud shot also shows the famous Polemi Tulip Field. Believe it or not, in April this will be a sea of red.

It was a shame that we didn't have enough time to do the original route I had planned, but I was glad I was able to capture a few shots showing what Cyprus looks like after a decent Autumnal storm.

Polemi Tulip Festival 2018

This morning, Polemi was bathed in Spring sunshine, as it invited people to come and see the tulips that flourish there every year. It is an annual event, which gives a true taste of traditional Cypriot life. And as we live in Polemi ourselves, it would be rude not to cover it, wouldn't it?
