Old Town 2022 Update - Part 3
Back To The Start

My car was calling now, so I took the direct route back to the carpark.

Old Power Station

This view will be familiar to anybody not in GESY who needed a COVID vaccine back in the day. Remember queuing here in the sun? Good times... Good times...
The New Car Park, Bus Station and Coffee Shop

I walked back through Pumpkin Square towards the car park, and had another view of the Markideio Car Park which was being renovated. From here you can see a building that is under construction. At least part of it will become a Coffee Shop. At the appropriate time, it will be put out to tender, and it will go to the winning bidder. There has been a fair amount of idle gossip as to who will get the contract. The Mayor has made it quite clear what the process will be though. Personally, I admire the patience of anybody in Public Office here. No matter what you do, a proportion of people will always have a moan and make snide remarks. They did it with the Gym Equipment at the Harbour. They did it with the new Cafe at SODAP Beach. They will no doubt do it at the Park of Colour when that gets complete.
These people should seriously get a life. If you are one of these serial moaners, please do something more constructive with your time. If that offends you then by all means stop reading. I can assure you you will not be missed.
The Future Is Bright

I will leave the last couple of shots for the nice people who remain. Paphos is changing, and that is most apparent in the Old Town. Embrace the change. Go to the market. The work there is supposedly finished, though I have yet to check it out. Try visiting in the evening, for a completely different experience. Stop and smell the roses. Admire the murals. Definitely admire the murals. They won't necessarily be there forever. Spend some money. Support the businesses. Buy a pumpkin or two. Have fun. Appreciate the work that has gone in to renovating the place. Be grateful.
Keep Your Eyes Open

Finally though, if you keep your eyes open, you will soon see that the Old Old Town hasn't gone anywhere. It is still there, behind the new frontages and improved roads. Just spend some time to look for it.

It's a year since we had a proper look around Old Town, so we thought another blog was due. We won't be revisiting every place we visited in the previous blogs. Instead we will be focusing on new additions and places we missed last year. Even so, we took nearly 100 pictures for this blog, so we have split it in two. Part 2 will be published on monday.Good Pages To Visit

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
