Old Paphos in 2021 - Part 2
Back To The Car Parks

Turning left again, we are now heading back to the carparks. There is quite a lot of development being undertaken here at the moment. To our right there used to be a small courtyard. I could no longer see it, so I presume it has been converted. I wonder what it is now? There were some nice murals on the wall in there.
Quality Kebabs

I've had a kebab from this place on numerous occasions, and cannot recommend them highly enough. Cyprus kebabs are a completely different experience from the ones you get served in the UK. They are a lot more healthy, for a start, and infinitely more tasty. If you are used to smothering your kebab in chilli sauce and mayonnaise, then you may be in for a bit of a shock. The default setting for kebab goodness in Cyprus is nothing but meat, salad, and a generous squadge of lemon juice. This took me a while of getting used to, but they taste so nice on their own that they really don't need loads of sauce on top. I do however like some for the chips I invariably order at the same time.
Oh and the meat is proper meat. None of that minced nonsense you find in doners that, let's face it, only tastes nice after a belly full of alcohol. These kebabs are best enjoyed sober, so you can fully appreciate their quality.
Now I am really hungry.
More Traditional Shops

As I pointed out in the first part of this tour. A lot of the old businesses of Old Town are still here, alive and kicking. They just have swanky new fronts now.
Great Advert

This is more of an advert than a mural, in that is painted on the side of a shop that sells tyres. It is very impressive though. I remember when they were painting it. As luck would have it, the one-way system through Old Town was closed, and all traffic was diverted down this road. There were traffic lights in operation, so we would get to sit in a queue watching them paint this.
Back To The Mosque

We have now returned to the mosque, and are walking up the new road I showed you previously.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
