Kato Paphos Part 7 - The Coast Path
Shops and Car Rentals

We are now looking opposite the Alexander The Great Hotel. Incidentally, it is worth pointing out that you can now view a lot of Paphos via Google Street View. Over the last couple of years we have been filming various streets and uploading the 360 films to GSV. So you can see this particular view (albeit at a lower resolution) by using this link:
See on Google Street ViewGSV can be very temperamental when it comes to adding new content, but eventually we hope to cover pretty much everywhere.

Alexander The Great

And there's the man himself, complete with horse.
Deck Cafe Bar

This Cafe is pretty popular with some of our readers too. We shall see it again soon from the other side.
New Builds

As you can see, Paphos is still being built. Up until recently there used to be a four storey maximum on buildings in Paphos. They have relaxed that slightly and the one springing up over there will definitely have more than four storeys. This upsets some people, and they cite Limassol as an example of a concrete jungle. Well, I used to live in London. Now that IS a concrete jungle. Limassol has a few tower blocks, sure, but it is by no means dominated by them. Besides, an awful lot of people want to live in Limassol, so there is certainly a need for housing. Personally, I am glad that Paphos looks like it does now compared to what it looked like in the Sixties. It would be a bit hypocritical of me to be critical of the odd taller hotel while still appreciating the increased modernisation that Paphos already has.
And besides, if the technical villages and University planned for Geroskipou ever come to pass, then Paphos will have much bigger changes to contend with than a few hotels!
SODAP Car Park

We have reached the SODAP car park now. It is pretty much opposite the building works. These pictures were taken a couple of days before the storm.

We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
