Geroskipou Bypass Update

Published 30th of September, 2020

A year ago we reported on the plans to build a new bypass around the centre of Geroskipou. Well work is now well underway, and as we were in the area we thought we would show you the progress. There is a film too!

The Old Flea Market

When you visit a place you don't often visit, you can't always be sure whether it has changed, or whether your memory has just gotten that little bit more fuzzy. However, in this instance, I am damn sure that this swanky looking digger wasn't there last year.

New Road Ahead

When we reported on the plans last year, I think it is safe to say that they were somewhat poo-pooed. Some people questioned the need for such an endeavour. You can see our initial report in the link at the foot of the page.

Don't Wobble

That portaloo's a bit close to the edge. Imagine being sat in that and having it topple over. Ergghh.

Anyway, clearly, the bypass is being built. Personally I think it is not just about getting people from A to B, it is also about improving access for the business park itself.

New Turns

This is the new route to the main business park. I filmed that too, but I won't publish it here. There's only so much excitement I can post in one day.

Oh, the film should have been displayed directly below this text, but I forgot to title the placeholder picture accordingly, so you see another picture first. If you are curious, it was taken at a slightly different angle to this one. It wasn't supposed to be visible though. I could change it, but it is a fairly laborious affair, and given that this is only a little blog, it hardly seemed worth it.

So when will the bypass by complete? Time will tell...

A Geroskipou Mini Mystery

After our last blog of the strange monument near Mandria, we were delighted with the response, so we thought we would post these pictures of another forgotten site, this time in the heart of Geroskipou. Did anybody work on this site in the past, and if so, can they say why excavation work seems to have halted mid dig?
