Exploring Evretou
Sunny Trimithousa
Here we are! The new crop of fennel is coming along nicely.
I love all the yellows you get in Springtime. I know Foinikas looks absolutely spectacular for a short while. It turns into a sea of yellow for a couple of weeks. This year it will be hard to see, because the waters are so high. I might try and reach it from above though, by going on foot. I love the countryside up there, and it is about as isolated as you can get, so watch this space.
Trimithousa Fennel
Anyway, back to the matter in hand. From Trimithousa I wanted to drive down to the Evretou Reservoir. Last year I did the drive in reverse. I remember at the time that it got particularly tricky at one point, because of lots of mud.
Muddy Waters
This year it was even worse. Last time, I avoided the worst of the mud, by cutting through the field to the right of this shot. I was afraid of getting stuck in the middle of the field, but my luck was in.
Booty
This time around, I decided to test the route first. This was the result. The ground was much boggier this year, and very soon I was nearly up to my knees in mud. Consequently, we did a U turn and went back the way we came. I had no desire to spend a few hours digging the Pajero out of mud.

Last time we walked around Evretou Dam, we observed a solitary grave on the opposite bank, half way up a hill. After the blog was published we were approached by somebody who keeps a log of the Turkish Cypriot Graves on the island. He hadn't a record of this one, so I promised to revisit the area and get more information...Skarfos Revisited
It's been quite some time since we visited Skarfos Bridge. One of the most accessible of the Venetian Bridges in the Paphos region, it is nevertheless off most people's radars. It has recently had a bit of a face-lift, so hopefully that will change. Skarfos Bridge is definitely open for business...Abandoned Villages - Trimithousa
While doing some research for the blog on the Abandoned Village of Evretou, I read how the villagers fled to the nearby village of Trimithousa, before eventually settling in the North. From this I deduced that Trimithousa itself might also be abandoned. So I looked it up on Google Maps, and decided to check it out...Good Pages To Visit
