Cyprus In Pictures - December 2023
Sea You Beach Bar

One day there may be a Marina in this scene. It has been promised for well over a decade. The latest news is that tenders have to close by the end of 2024. On the Chinny Reckon scale, this registers the full five Jimmys. While we are waiting though, the Sea You Beach Bar and the accompanying beach are well worth a visit.

Vardas Beach

If you look there are lots of little beaches along the Paphos Coast. This one at Vardas Beach Bar is a lovely place for a spot of sunbathing or snorkelling.
Sandy Beach

We are often asked whether you can walk from Paphos to Coral Bay. Well you can't. Realistically, this is as far as you can get. You can see where the Coast Path begins on the bottom right of this shot. It more-or-less gets you to Paphos, depending on what Building work is being done at any given moment.
The beach itself is very popular with locals, but has notorious riptides which have proven fatal in the past. So if you go for a swim here, make sure there is a Lifeguard on duty.
Paphos Harbour

They are still working on Paphos Harbour, specifically the building that is due to house an Ocean Basket Restaurant. They have completed the area by the castle though, and it looks amazing now, especially at night.
Queens Bay Hotel

Our final shot of the month takes us back to the Kissonerga Coast Path, with a view of Queen's Bay Hotel. You will notice in our photographs this month a distinct lack of Christmas shots. We did publish some, but they were taken at night, and it wouldn't make sense to use them as a Kalimera shot. If you still have a yearning for some Christ Bling pictures, take a look at our pictures of Paphos Christmas Lights and Polis Christmas Village.
And on that festive note, I will once again wish you all the Happiest of New Years.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
