The Road Continues...

As you can see, it no longer looks much like a road. Now, I could have walked back the way I came, but I decided instead to walk along the nature trail, to see where that ends up. I knew it hit the road again eventually, so I wouldn't get lost.

The View From Above

Walking along the trail gives you a better view of the scene below. The river has really destroyed that road!

Wall

This made me laugh. At some point in the past, somebody had built a small wall here to protect the path, and amazingly it worked! A huge pile of rubble teetered above the tiny row of stones.

Winter View

The summer view is a bit prettier. Deciduous trees don't look their best in the winter. However, the blue snake of the river does add a bit of colour to the picture.

The Road Back

Now I was beginning to get a bit uneasy. I had to drive back up to Vretsia somehow. You can see the firebreak in the distance, and from here it doesn't look that steep. Up close is another matter though.

Kelefos Bridge

Kelefos Bridge is probably the most well-known of all the Venetian Bridges in Cyprus, for good reasons. It features on the UK TV holiday adverts for Cyprus, showing a couple cycling over it on an afternoon ride. Elia Bridge

Like its more famous neighbour, Elia Bridge spans the Diarizos River in the south western corner of Paphos Forest. Along with Roudia and Kelefos, it forms the Venetian Bridges Nature Trail, which is a lovely route, even if you do opt to drive, rather than hike it's distance. Let's take a quick peek...
