Alyki Beach Is Open!
Back at the end of May we reported that St George Beach was being renovated, and that a new one was being born next to it. Well, the work is now finished, and Alyki Beach is ready for our inspection...
New Kid On The Block
This is the area next to St George's Beach and hotel. A few months ago, it was a dusty car park. A few weeks ago they started converting it and this is the result! Meet Alyki Beach.

Now obviously they have been planning this for a while. They have already built an artificial reef offshore, and they wouldn't have done that for a carpark.
Leonardo Laura Beach & Splash Resort
The beach won't just benefit St George's Hotel. It is also directly in front of the Leonardo Laura Splash Resort.

And here is the beach next to its neighbour. Now, St George's Beach had a lifeguard station. I don't know whether it will now also cover Alyki Beach, or whether they will build a new one. If Alyki has its eye on a coveted ble flag it will need its own, along with changing facilities and an information sign.
One blue flag requirement the beach doesn't have to worry about is water quality. Like the rest of Cyprus, the waters here are crystal clear.

Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
