The Murals of Agios Nikolaos
To The Front
Now we will move slowly to the front. It is very murky, but already you can make out walls covered in murals.
Repair
The murals have obviously been given a bit of TLC at some point. Fortunately I have never found anything like that horrible restoration fail in Santuario de Misericordia, Spain, that did the internet rounds a while back.
Annoying Window
It is a shame we didn't stop that first day when it was raining. The overcast weather would have made the light through the window less bright.
Ceiling Art
Most of the following pictures will have been taken with the help of a torch. You will see more detail than in this shot, but I have included it because I love the wooden beams.
Ceiling
It is difficult to know where to start when you get to the front of the church. I am not even going to try and interpret all the murals. However, I shall start showing pictures from the ceiling and work down, so you will at least get some idea what the layout is.
