Where The Locals Go
Xistarokambos Beach

After Ttakkas Bay you will find a Blue Flag Beach at the Aphrodite Beach Hotel. This is called Xistarokambos Beach - or Yiannakis to the locals. There is also a very popular fish restaurant here.

Bring Your Own Gear

The whole strip of coast here forms a huge bay. It is difficult to find a name for it though. According to Google, the entire area from Aphrodite's Baths all the way up to the outskirts of Pomos is Chrysochou Bay. Really though, some subdivision is needed. There are two Blue Flag beaches in this portion. One we have already seen. The other, Chalavro (according to the Blue Flag website) we are fast approaching. For the sake of convenience, I will refer to the area from Ttakkas to Chalavro as Aphrodite's Bay.

Between Yiannakis and Chalavro Beach you will find empty sands, interspersed with occasional clusters of sunbeds and gazebos near villas.
Chalavro Beach

We have now reached the second blue flag beach. You can either access it via the Anassa Hotel, which we shall see soon, or via a bumpy road which leads to a narrow car park. There are no municipal sunbeds at this end, so bring your own.
Park Here

When we visit here, we normally park in this area, to avoid getting blocked in. If your car doesn't like bumps I advise you park at the top of the track and walk down though. It's not far.

The Polis Coast
I recently went for a walk along the Polis Coast. It was supposed to be a drone flight, but I managed to leave the drone at home, so instead I visited some of the beaches and took some suitably scenic pictures. Enjoy the beauty that is the Polis Coastline on a glorious Spring morning.
Polis Beaches Part 1
We've already had a look at how the beaches and restaurants of Paphos and Ayia Napa are coping with the new norms of social distancing. It is time to turn our attention to the Polis coast, and take a look at what the situation is there. In Part 1 we go from Aphrodite's Baths to Polis.
Polis Beaches Part 2
In this report we originally planned on showing you the beaches from Kato Pyrgos to Polis. However, there were so many that we have had to split it in two, so join us as we travel from Kato Pyrgos to the outskirts of Pomos. In our next blog we will continue the journey to Polis.
Polis Beaches Part 3
In the final part of our look at the beaches along the north coast of Paphos, we travel from Pomos to Polis, finishing up with a slap-up meal at our favourite kebab joint. If you want quieter beaches in beautiful surroundings, then this area will not disappoint. We visited these beaches more times than was strictly necessary to make this blog, which shows that we have saved what we consider to be some of the best Paphos beaches to last.Good Pages To Visit

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
