Venus Beach
Venus Beach used to be a bathing blackspot, with its unpredictable riptides. It has recently been rejuvenated, with the addition of an artificial reef and improved facilities. Now it can claim to be one of the nicest beaches in Paphos. Let's take a look...
A Blue Flag Beckons

If you haven't been to Venus Beach recently you won't recognise it from what it used to be like.
Artificial Reef

The transformation has been triggered by the construction of this artificial reef. Prior to this, the area was notorious for its rip-tides. If you don't know what a rip-tide is, it is an underwater current that pulls you out to sea. On its own it isn't deadly. If you ever get caught in one, just try and swim parallel to the shore until you are out of it, then swim back to shore. The one thing you shouldn't do is try and fight it, and swim against it straight back to shore. This is how people get tired and drown. And it does happen.
Fortunately, that reef you see puts an end to the rip-tides.

It also helps keep the sand on the beach. In the winter, the seas can get quite rough, and rough seas are the enemy of a nice sandy beach. Hopefully the reef will take the sting out of the storms.
Social Distance

We are also happy to report that the sunbeds and parasols (€2.50 each, as is the norm) are spaced reasonably far apart. We should however point out that we took these pictures fairly early in the day. It does get more crowded than this later on.
View From The Car Park

To get to the beach, drive down Tomb of the Kings Road from The Mall, and turn left at Venus Beach Hotel. Before the entrance, there is a track to the right, which brings you to the carpark. Alternatively, get the 615 bus from the harbour.

Polis Beaches Part 3
In the final part of our look at the beaches along the north coast of Paphos, we travel from Pomos to Polis, finishing up with a slap-up meal at our favourite kebab joint. If you want quieter beaches in beautiful surroundings, then this area will not disappoint. We visited these beaches more times than was strictly necessary to make this blog, which shows that we have saved what we consider to be some of the best Paphos beaches to last.Good Pages To Visit
