Anogyra Vlou Archaeological Site
Obscure Rock.
This is unusual. In the middle of that wall is a large vertical stone. Did their used to be a doorway to the right of it? If that is the case, it is unlikely that this wall at least has been recently assembled. What would be the point of putting this rock here if that was the case? There would be no need, as you would be starting from scratch.

No idea what that was for. This place raises more questions than it answers! I shall definitely have to be on the lookout for information on it when I am next visiting the museum in Nicosia.
Welcome To The Machine
We shall end with a couple of close-ups of the star of the show. From memory, a big plank goes through this hole, with a rock on the end. It is raised and lowered to beat unsuspecting olives into submission.
I have no idea what all these notches on the reverse are for though.
The Map
If you do decide to visit the place, heed our words about leaving only footprints. And if you bump into an Archaeoligist who tells you to go away, do so with good grace (this happened to us when we were exploring a field near Kouklia). And definitely definitely don't take home any souvenirs. That's a good way of getting into trouble with the Law.
