This building is still occupied. Through a window we could hear the strains of music from an unseen radio.
Towards The Centre
There are definitely people in and around this village. A van approached us at one point, and some friendly faces asked us if we were ok. I think they assumed we were lost.
Gas Powered
This building looks like it is inhabited too.
If you continue down the road it splits in two. First we shall take the right hand fork.
More Signs of Life
The building in the foreground is abandoned for sure. But towards the background there are certainly signs of life.
Abandoned Truck
Now that truck is going nowhere. It looks like it was used for transporting animals. Were they farm livestock, or hunting dogs?

Statos is unusual, as abandoned villages go. People deserted it not because of inter-communal fighting, but because of the threat of landslides. If you are driving to Troodos on the Kouklia - Dora road, you will pass through Mousere just after Archimandrita. It isn't a very big place, but it is worth a look around, as there are some nice views coupled with some interesting ruins. Plus, the locals are very welcoming...Good Pages To Visit
