This statue was on one of the main jetties. It is worth walking to the end because you get a decent view of the main Ayia Napa beaches.
The Main Beach Drag
If you are staying in one of the many hotels at Ayia Napa, I guess your choice of beach will be whichever one is nearest to your room. That sand gets very hot, and you don't want to be walking half a mile across it to get to spot on the beach.
They all looked lovely though, and there were plenty of sunbeds for hire. These can be a double-edged sword. Given that the alternative could result in a huge mess like you get on some UK beaches, with windbreakers dividing up the beach into a maze of mini-kingdoms, I think this is the best way to cater for a large amount of tourists at once.
Public Beaches?
One thing that puzzles me, is that beyond these beaches is another, public beach. I thought all beaches in Cyprus were public beaches, so why is this one specially labelled? Is it because there were parking facilities there?
One Final Visit
I think this church is called the Church of the Prophet Elias. To get to it, you have to go up these steps. The kiosk at the foot of the steps will actually sell you a small piece of ribbon for 50 cents. People write messages on them and tie them to the trees. I am sure you could also just bring your own ribbon.

Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
