Peyia Beerateia Beer Festival 2026
Last week Peyia held a three night beer festival at St Georges Square in Agios Georgios. It was a feast of drink, food and musical entertainment and will hopefully become an annual event. We visited on the Saturday Night and took some pictures of the happy event.
St George's Square
The event takes place at the lovely St George's Square at Agios Georgios in Peyia. You can see it behind St George's Chapel, in the foreground.
Recent Renovation
The area used to be a rather dirty parking area for the Archaeological Park next door. It still is used for that, but Cap St Georges renovated it and vastly improved the toilet facilities. Now it is a perfect place for the occasional concert or festival.
Yeronisos View
It is important to note that the festival is sited some distance from the cliffs that the Chapel and parking area sit upon. Also note that the stage is shrouded in a black screen, so as to minimise light pollution.

And you will see from this view that the screen worked. From the direction of the Akamas you could only see a few lights.
Harbour View
From the sea you won't have noticed anything. I mention all this because whenever an event is held here various environmental groups complain. Personally I think they are being unreasonable. If they really care that much for the turtles why are they never heard criticising the illegal organised turtle swims that happen daily in the harbour? Surely that is a much bigger threat?
Anyway, now that you can see how inoffensive to turtles the festival was, let's have a look at what it was like.

Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
