Peyia Beerateia Beer Festival 2026

This is the first Annual Beer Festival at Peyia. With new events you are never sure how the Public is going to react, but I was pleased to see they had an excellent turnout.
The Main Area
While the main focus of attention at the beer festival was, unsurprisingly, the beer, there was a lot more to keep you entertained. Alongside the hooch there were numerous street food stalls offering delicious treats, and a central seating area where you can eat and drink. In front of this area was the main stage.
Over three nights, the stage played host to a wide variety of entertainment ranging from reggae to traditional Cypriot dancing.
Let's have a wander around to see what the stalls were like.
Pancakes
The first stall (and they look remarkably similar to the Christmas Village ones!) was serving up crepes. Yum yum. There used to be a lovely crepe house in Old Town, near October 28 Square. They did a delicous savoury chilli crepe which was my favourite. These days I think the place is a coffee shop, which is a shame.
Proper Lager
The first beer available was an old favourite of mine back in my drinking days. The stall had a very enthusiastic barman!

Next up was Carlsberg. Now, in the UK, this always used to be in the same league as Fosters and Castlemaine XXXX. IE, pretty weak but cheap. I'm going back 25 years here so bear with me. I do remember that Continental Carlsberg was a bit stronger. Does the same apply in Cyprus?

Last week Peyia held a three night beer festival at St Georges Square in Agios Georgios. It was a feast of drink, food and musical entertainment and will hopefully become an annual event. We visited on the Saturday Night and took some pictures of the happy event.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
