Blast From The Past
I haven't seen one of those in a long time.
Missing Gourds
When I last visited this tavern, back in 2016, this area was full of gourds hanging down from the amongst the vines. It looked lovely, and I was hoping to see them again now. Alas, there weren't any this time.
Memorial Park
Below the tavern there is a little memorial and a children's play area. There is also a road which runs left to where we parked the car.
Parting Shot
So that is Kritou Terra. We still haven't written an article about the waterfall. It is a lovely spot and and nice nature trail. We visited it before it was renovated, but I wasn't that happy with the pictures I took, because of the lighting conditions. We need to revisit it to see what has changed, but that will wait for another day. There is no hurry.
While Kritou Terra has declined in population since WW2, I get the impression that it is now on the up again. There have been some nice renovations, not just to tourist attractions, but on private dwellings. So some people do want the place to thrive still. Hopefully, in the not to distant future, the powers that be will spend some time maintaining the existing attractions, like the museum and the cafe by the fountains. If the waterfall is pulling in the punters, it would be a shame not to capitalise on them by showing them the other charms this lovely village has to offer.

Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
