We recently had our annual visit to Ayia Napa and Protaras. He are a few pictures that show where we went.
Fig Tree Bay
When we visit the East of the Island it is fun to go to the beaches. They are more plentiful than those in Paphos, with seemingly every bay offering a sun-worshipper's paradise. We avoid the ones at the very centre of Ayia Napa, because they tend to cater for the surrounding hotels. Protaras though, has more easily accessible sandy shores. The most famous of those is Fig Tree Bay.
And Restaurant
You get to Fig Tree Bay by following the Protaras One-Way System. Ignore the first signs though, as they will direct you to a car park on the other side of this restaurant. You want the turning after.
All Mod Cons
The beach is very popular, and rightly so.
Photo Opportunity
It looks like people have taken to attaching padlocks to the fence here, like they do at the Love Bridge, and numerous other romantic sites around the globe. It occurs to me that if you were practicing lock picking then this would be a great place to test your skills.
Interesting Jetty
I'm not sure what the purpose of this floating jetty was. Possibly it was related to the nearby water sports?

Once a year we spend a week in the East of the Island, visiting Ayia Napa, Protaras and the surrounding area. We always enjoy our visit, though it is nice to come back to our beloved Polemi. There is a lot more to the East than sandy beaches and partying. This is a selection of some of the sights we saw.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
