Paphos Beaches And Restaurants - After Lockdown
Continuing our look at how the beaches, restaurants and hotels of Paphos are reopening to the public after the lockdown, we start at Paphos Harbour, and go all the way down to Agios Georgios; the gateway to the Akamas.
Municiple Baths
Having waved the hotel strip behind us, let us take a look at the harbour, and the restaurants and shops you can find there. How are they coping with social distancing?
If you missed part 1, you can catch up here:
Quiet Streets
Well, as you can see, it is fairly quiet at the moment. These shots were taken at around 2:30 (I remember because I had a tooth ache) on Friday 12th June. On a typical June Friday afternoon, you would expect the area to be more crowded than this. Bear in mind though, that tourist flights had not yet restarted.
Seaside Nosebag
You cannot tell very easily from this picture, but the restaurant in shot has got the tables and chairs spread quite thinly, to comply with social distancing regulations. This highlights a problem I have had doing blogs and films since lockdown began. People are understandably wary about getting fines and such, so they may not take kindly to people taking pictures or filming them, to put them under future scrutiny. We all know the armchair moaners who will see an innocent picture and take great delight in making a big thing about a minor infringement of the rules. So I tend to steer clear of up-close-and-personal pictures for the time being. Take it from me though, that the restaurant was open for business, and taking social distancing seriously. The customers seemed to be enjoying their food, and probably appreciated the extra space. Obviously, in a few weeks time, when there are more customers, there may well be an issue with queues. The simple solution in that case is to phone ahead first and book a table.
Virtual Tour
The Municipal Baths are in fact a blue flag beach, and have their own page in the beach directory. You will find more pictures of the area there, taken last summer.
Underwater Sculpture Park
Somewhere out there is an underwater sculpture park that was added last year.
