Polis Surf

Published 13th of February, 2020

Last weekend we drove down to Polis and Limni for a nice stroll along the beach. Naturally we took our cameras with us, and you may have already seen our film and virtual tour, but here are some of the pictures we took.

Polis Camping Site Beach

When we visited last saturday, the tide was very high at the beach. In the summer there will be lots of sunbeds where the waves are currently breaking. The authorities do a top notch job of tidying it up each year.

Occasional River

The waters of the River Chrysochous flow all the way down from the Evretou Dam to get here.,

Hidden Reef

The artificial reef they built here is getting a bit swamped by the waves. If you are thinking of doing some body boarding along this coastline, do take care. I tried it a few years ago, and received a lovely black eye for my troubles, as the seas slammed me into a pile of loose gravel and rocks. The waves may not be that big here, but they are very, very powerful.

There is something magical about visiting beaches out of season though. They are full of both memories and potential energy, waiting for the summer to come.

The old pillbox was drowning at times.
