Let's have one last shot of the chapel exterior before popping in.
Inside
The main feature on the inside is, I am assuming, a Christening Bowl. There are also some camera lights, probably belonging to the photographers outside. Other than that, the chapel is fairly spartan compared to a lot of the chapels we have seen on our travels around Cyprus.
Incidentally, if you look at the picture in the centre left, you will see it is a Hodegetria. If you remember our recent blog on Panagia Odigitria, the name refers to a particular icon - Virgin Mary The Guide. You can see it here. Mary is guiding us to Christ.
Who knows, in about 20 years time I might be able to identify all of the images.
Towards The Beach
Anyway, it was clear that a baptism was about to start, and I didn't want to get in the way. I had noticed some steps as I walked around the church, so decided to descend them. They led to a small cave...
A Small Cave
This looks interesting. There is also another broom here, along with some dustpans. Somebody obviously wants to keep this place clean. I am pleased by this. At a lot of religious sites, I am appalled at the amount of rubbish that gets dumped by supposedly faithful people. It is nice to see a Holy place get treated with the respect it deserves.
Lots Of Shrines
We have visited a lot of shrine caves in Cyprus, but this was a nice example.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
