The Murals of Agios Nikolaos

This church has by far and away the best ancient murals I have seen so far in Cyprus. I have two other churches in the blog pipeline, showing churches of a similar age, but neither of them can match the splendour of these artworks.

Back outside now, and you can see Paphos Forest in the distance. This is a lovely setting.

How To Get There

If you want to visit the church, this is the best way to get there. There is a lot to do in the area so you could easily make a day out of it. You could drive up to Koilineia and from there take the road to the abandoned village of Vretsia. Or you could explore Statos, Ayios Fotios, and Faleia, which are other abandoned villages in the area. Or see newer sights, like New Pentalia and the rebuilt Statos-Agios-Fotios. Like the rest of Paphos, you are never far away from somewhere interesting to explore.
