Let There Be Light

The first thing you will notice when you enter is how dark it is. There are no lights.

Towards The Back

Your eyes soon get used to the dark interior, but it makes it difficult to photograph. We visited the church a couple of times to take these shots. The second time I bought inspection lamps to provide a bit more light. They helped a bit but a professional rig would do the location much more justice.

Rocky Floor

This place has a lovely floor. In places it is the rock itself.

Starting at the Back

As you will see, there are a lot of murals to examine in this church. So we shall start at the back and move forward.

Wax Effigies

The wax effigies are fairly common in churches. I think this hand was placed by somebody with an ailment on their hand. You see wax limbs for the same reason. You will also find wax baby heads and complete wax babies, which are used in fertility prayers.
