The Polis Coast In August
Empty Spaces
Even here though, there are plenty of empty areas should you prefer a bit of privacy.
New Beach
This little beach has appeared in recent years. It is on the way to the campsite, which you can see in the distance. There is a basic shower here and the water is very nice. You can swim out to the artificial reef as well.
Campsite Conundrum
Our final destination is the old Polis Campsite. This is currently being renovated, and isn't due to re-open for 3 years or more. It is a real shame as the beach was lovely.
Tent City
There are a few tents down there still, on the beach, but zero facilities. This includes water and sanitation.
Towards Limni
Chrysochou Bay does not end here though. It stretches all the way up to Nea Dimmata which is just before Pomos. Most of that route consists of unspoilt coastline with a pebbly shore. There are the occasional beach but it is really reserved for DIY sun worshippers who don't need facilities. The local Cypriots though tend to head for the areas we covered at the start of the article.
If you are in the area, do stop for a swim and visit one of the local taverns. You will not be disappointed with the food, and the scenery is amazing!
