The Polis Coast In August
Nice Pool
If you look a bit closer, the Nalu Hotel looks rather nice. It has a lovely pool and looks pretty full. There are also lots of solar panels. These are appearing on more and more hotels, and it is good to see.
Water Adventure
There is some sort of water park here too. It is free for Hotel Residents but you can buy tickets on the day if you are just passing. Now, according to the Hotel Website, which wins the award for Most Annoying Font, this area of coast is actually private.
"Just steps from the resort, our private stretch of Latchi Beach offers sunbeds, umbrellas, and refreshing drinks – the perfect setting seaside days."
This is a bold claim, but I don't think it will stand up in court:
"By law in Cyprus, all beaches and the surrounding land within 100 yards of the high-water mark are public property under the Foreshore Protection Law. Private ownership of beaches is illegal, public access must remain open at all times, and municipal authorities regulate authorized commercial sunbeds, water sports, and environmental protections."
Perhaps they are referring to the use of the sunbeds?
Polis Municipal Beach
Just down from the Nalu you will find Polis Municipal Beach and La Plage Restaurant.
Park On The Left
Latsi has introduced parking meters in most parking areas now. It doesn't cost a lot - from between 1€ and 2.50€ for 8 hours - but it is still quite annoying. The rough area next to the parking area is free though, and rather popular. Also note that there is another access point here too which can be easily reached from the main carpark.
Quieter
If you compare this shot to the ones further up the coast, it is clear that the locals prefer the beach away from the tourist hotspots. I think this pattern is replicated all over the world. Locals tend to prefer relaxing on their own terms. So, rather bizarrely, your best bet at getting a sunbed in the Polis Area, is on the main Tourist Beach.
