The king found his love Arodafnousa killed by the queen in jealousy, so in return he kills the queen in anger.

Mural 8

The final mural is beyond the carparks. It is my favourite, and is very surreal.

The queen was fed to hungry dogs while an honourable funeral was held for Arodafnousa.

So if you have driven past that and wondered what was going on, now you know...

That concludes the story of Arodafnousa. Before I show you the map, let's have a look at the miss-translation.

Incorrect Tranlation

The English text for Mural 3 does not seem to match the Greek. Instead it appears to be a duplicate of the translation for Mural 5. Unfortunately, my Greek is nowhere near good enough to translate the Greek in Mural 3. However, if anybody can read it, I would appreciate if they posted a translation in the comments.

Cementography: The Official Map

This map shows you where all the Cementography murals are in Old Town. There is another example of Cementography too. You can see it just about the Green Air Shop on the main road, opposite George's Opticians. This is a piece created by local school children.

I certainly like the idea behind Cementography, and the murals are a fantastic addition to the scene. If you want to find out more about the craft, follow this link: Cementography.net

I will also be uploading a panoramic tour of these murals, so stay tuned for that...

Old Pafos in 2019 - Part 1

It's a year since we had a proper look around Old Town, so we thought another blog was due. We won't be revisiting every place we visited in the previous blogs. Instead we will be focusing on new additions and places we missed last year. Even so, we took nearly 100 pictures for this blog, so we have split it in two. Part 2 will be published on monday.

Paphos Murals

If you take a wander around the streets of Paphos, both old and new, you will occasionally stumble upon some random art installations. The patchwork tree is one such example, but there are other exhibits too numerous to mention here. Today, we are going to have a look at a subset of these works, and examine some of the murals you will find. Most of them are situated in a small area to the west of Kennedy Square. However, there are a few others scattered around, so it pays to explore...
