Aftermath of the Aloe Hotel Fire
Paint Bubbles
I was fascinated to see where the paint had been bubbling off the wall here.
I didn't walk very far into the burnt area. The rooms were all alike and there didn't seem any point in needlessly plodding through it all, so I stayed at one end.
It was a good job they had moved all the furnishings out already though. Otherwise the damage would have been a lot worse.
Second Floor
The second floor wasn't so bad. I still have no idea why somebody has spraypainted the room number on all the doors though. It makes no sense whatsoever. According to official reports, this hotel was due to be knocked down and replaced with a tower. If that was the case, why would anybody bother numbering all the rooms in this fashion?
As it happens, they now appear to be building a second tower on the other side of the completed one. Does this mean that they have other plans for the Aloe?
Rising From The Ashes?
Who knows? Perhaps there are plans to refurbish this after all?
Interestingly here, most of the damage appears to be confined to the ceiling.

Aloe Hotel Tour

The Aloe Hotel closed in 2020. Since then it has remained derelict, home only to pigeons and the occasional rat. At one point reports stated that a tower was going to be built to complement the one next door. Is that still the case? Let's go and take a wander through the corridors to see what we can find...Good Pages To Visit
