Xeros River Offroad Adventure
Let's Off Road!
Once you have gone across the new bridge, there is a left turn which takes you down this track.
Keep Right
I'm not going to describe each turn we took on our journey. There are several times you get junctions such as this one. In most cases it doesn't really matter which one you take, as they tend to merge again later. However, if you find yourself running out of track, or heading too far up the side of the valley, then turn around and take the other turning.
Distant Sinti
The track is in pretty good condition to start with. This may well be because there is a Donkey Sanctuary along the route, which gets visited by Tourist buses. Eventually though, you will find it gets bumpier and you start driving over the riverbed itself.
Sinti Monastery
When you arrive at Sinti Monastery you are in for a treat. I visited the area a number of times before I realised I could actually visit the monastery itself. And you won't have to ask a monk for permission, as nobody actually lives there.
Repaired Ruin
No, Sinti Monastery is a restored ruin. It still has an active church. During the Pafos2017 celebrations it was even used as a venue for a music concert. But for the most part, it is an abandoned place that is pretty magnificent. It is one of my favourite places to visit in Cyprus.
