Inner Courtyard
There is so much stone here. It is everywhere. The buildings themselves are not that huge. It consists of an inner courtyard surrounded by a mix of ruins and repaired buildings, with an imposing church on one side.
Living History
There is something about the place that just oozes history. You can almost hear the monks chanting.
Undying
The place also reminds me of a scene in an old computer game I used to play, some 20 years ago. In the game (Clive Barker's Undying) you have to explore some ruins very similar to this, but you also get transported back in time to when the monastery was alive. I wonder what this scene would look like if you were tranported back 100 years, to when the monastery was still in use. And why stop there? The church itself was built in the 16th century. Imagine what this courtyard would have looked like then?
Church Interior
Of course, you can get a bit of an idea of what the place was like 100 years ago, simply by going inside the church. It was restored in 1997, and they did a great job.
The roof looks nice from the inside. From the outside it looks even nicer, and is of an octagonal design.
