Polis Beaches - Part 3
Cheese

The pier is incredibly photogenic.
Great Place For A Swim

Fishing off the end of the pier used to be prohibited. The signs were taken down a while ago though. I did take a very Cypriot picture on the pier once. There was a line just to the left of this picture, and a sign saying "No Fishing Beyond This Point". Of course there was a fisherman standing next to the sign, happily fishing, on the wrong side of it. He was the only fisherman on the whole of the pier.
Take The Tour
Limni Pier is a great place for a swim. You can either jump off the pier itself or use the convenient steps taking you down to the water's edge. I would avoid going for a swim when the seas are rough though.

Finally, having made it back to Polis, we continued along the coast for a few hundred metres until we arrived here. Tis Pizzas Mezeklikia is a favourite of ours. The food here is absolutely delicious. I normally go for a sheftalia / souvlaki mixed kebab on a plate. This comes with lots of salad and lovely chips. The pork chops and ribs are nice too and I hate having to decide. Alex and our daughter often opt for a delicious pizza (and here, small ones are enough for one person to eat well). Save a bit of room until after your meal though, as they present you with a selection of locally produced fruit which is really tasty. The oranges they were doing a while ago were lovely.
They also do a takeaway service, which we took advantage of during the lockdown. We would phone in advance, collect the nosh then find a scenic spot on the way home to Polemi to eat.
During lockdown, and since the start of the pandemic, restaurants like this have struggled to stay open and need all the help they can get. So if you are out and about and feeling hungry, then stop at a local eatery and experience some delicious food. Support the local businesses, we would all be lost without them.
From Polis To Pomos - The Movie
As promised, here is the film we did showing the route along the Polis Coast. We will be doing a slower version in due course, but this will show you just how much "beach" there is for you to explore here.
Our Paphos beaches directory is getting pretty crowded, and now includes some 31 locations in the Paphos region alone. We are not done yet though, so expect a report on all the beaches around Pissouri in the future (not strictly in Paphos but we won't tell anybody if you won't) and some of the more accessible beaches on the Akamas. Plus there are a couple on the South coast we have missed, like Sandy Beach in Lemba and the new one by Venus Beach Hotel. So stay tuned...

In this report we originally planned on showing you the beaches from Kato Pyrgos to Polis. However, there were so many that we have had to split it in two, so join us as we travel from Kato Pyrgos to the outskirts of Pomos. In our next blog we will continue the journey to Polis.

As it is Halloween today I thought I would tell you about the spooky railway we discovered beneath our feet a while back. However, as we haven't been able to find out anything about it we thought it prudent to throw in some ruins for good measure...
The Pomos Coast
Pomos is quite a trip from Paphos, but it is most definitely worth it. We were up that way to visit some abandoned villages and overflowing reservoirs this week, but stopped to take in the coast along the way. The countryside up there is breathtaking, and well worth a visit. Here's a short selection of what to expect.Good Pages To Visit

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
