A Misty Cyprus Morning
Polemi School

Now A Major Film

I also made a film with the drone. Well, two in fact. Youtube has a new feature called Shorts. These are short clips designed to be viewed on a mobile. I am trying out the facility, while at the same time making regular films. This does mean a bit of overlap on the Youtube Paphos Life page, but hopefully it accommodates more people. So there are two films out there. The shorter version is for mobile. The longer one is a "Relaxing Cyprus" film, which is designed to be watched full screen with the sound turned up, and a mug of coffee.
This is a still from that film. I was worried about all the birds, and thought they might interfere with the drone, but they were happy going round and round in circles, enjoying the scenery. And who can blame them?
Artistic License

In the last three images, I have been playing around with the image settings a bit in Photoshop. Normally I avoid this as much as possible. Partly because I like to publish accurate representations of what I am seeing. And partly because, given the volume of pictures I publish on a monthly basis, it would be too much like hard work.

A Star Is Born

So, be assured that Polemi in the morning mist doesn't actually look quite as biblical as this shot. It does look pretty spiffing though. Here is a tip for you, if you are here on holiday. Take time out from all your sunset pictures, set the alarm clock for an early start, and go and photograph some sunrises. You won't be disappointed.

Polemi Sunset
Polemi isn't known for it's sunsets, well, to us at least. They are normally the domain of the coastal areas of Paphos, and Max's house. However, this evening, the Gods smiled on us, and granted us a lovely sunset. The photos can provide a brief, fitting epilogue to our last blog, Polemi Sunrise.
Polemi in 500 Metres
I went for a stroll around Polemi this morning. I didn't use the SMS service, so had to stay within 500 metres of our house. Turns out the light was fantastic and I was able to take some nice pictures, assisted in part, by one of our cats who decided to follow me on my travels...

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
