Paphos Easter 2023
Cyprus is a Greek Orthodox Country and considers Easter to be the most important date in the year. Not only that, but the Greek Orthodox calendar is slightly different to the Anglican one, so Easter is celebrated a week later this year. And celebrate it they do, complete with Easter Decorations similar to what you are used to at Christmas. Here is a selection of what you can currently see.
Stadium Roundabout

We shall begin our adventure at the roundabout near the Stadium and the old Super Home location. You can see a chicken and egg in the foreground, and a couple of bunnies in the distance.
The Town Hall

There are some more eggs by the Town Hall along with a baby chick in a nest.
Turned Out Nice

While I was wandering through the Square I couldn't help but admire how nice it was looking in the Spring sunshine.
I Want To Break Free

There are a variety of themes used in the roadside displays. Most of them centre on chicks and eggs, though you will see the occasional bunny. There is also a bizarre one which looks like a folded breast of chicken. I've never been able to work that out.
Kennedy Square

The basket of eggs in Kennedy Square looked particularly spiffing. The best decorations were however, waiting for us in a covered environment.

Happy Easter
We were out doing our Annual Easter Egg Hunt this morning. It took us down through the Esouza Valley, and finally to the sea. I won't be doing a blog article on the final part of this journey, as it isn't in the same league as the two sections I have previously blogged about. However, we did stumble across this shrine. At first glance, I took it as a typical shrine you see fairly frequently in Cyprus. However, a second glance revealed it to be rather unusual.

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
