Pantheon Hall - Part 2: The Big Bang Theory.

What Was This?

So what do you think this room was used for? It still has some seats in it, but the curtains are a puzzle.

Very Posh A&E?

The curtains almost remind me of the A&E unit at Frimley Park Hospital. I don't mean that it looks anything like this, but that it had curtains separating the cubicles. Years ago, my wife was ill with gall stones, and we had to take her to the A&E unit. She was laying in curtained cubicle, high on the supplied morphine, and talking about apples. Totally out of the blue, somebody crawled under the curtain, behind her bed, and under the curtain on the opposite side. Some uniformed police then ran past the front of the cubicle. It was very surreal, but the morphine meant my wife took it all in her stride.

Need A Drink?

Anyway, the curtain room is next to the bar.

Back In The Day

An Oldie shows what it used to be like. A couple of draft beers and a rather sparse array of spirits. There was a drinks menu but I can't for the life of me find the picture I took of it. From what I remember though, the prices were actually fairly reasonable, if you steered clear of the bubbly.

Pizza!

The lack of a menu photo brings up an interesting point. We first found this place several months ago. I think it was in November or December of last year. I took my old 360 camera with me and made a tour of the whole site. There is a link to that at the end of this blog. I didn't publish the blog then, because I didn't want to run the risk of causing the place to get stripped of its remaining assets. If you remember the Abandoned Ranch we blogged about a couple of years ago, that has now been stripped of just about everything, including floor tiles. So I wanted to see if I could track down the owner first, to let them know their resort was open to the elements.

it soon became apparent though, that the owner had left town. What's more, we last visited the site a week ago, and made another small tour with the new, swanky 360 camera. It is clear that the place is already getting stripped, so there is no point keeping quiet about the site any more.

If you do visit though, remember the urban explorer's motto: Take only pictures, leave only footprints.

We've always loved urban exploring - visiting abandoned old buildings - and Cyprus has more than its fair share, from old hotels to forgotten hospitals for disused mines. When we discovered the place we are about to show you though, we really hit the Urbex Jackpot. This place is amazing, and has a remarkably colourful past as well.

Return to The Abandoned Ranch

The other day we saw an article about a mysterious church that had appeared in the Kouris Reservoir because of the low water level. When we got there it turned out to be a case of bad journalism. However, as we were in the area, we decided to revisit the abandoned Rancho Appaloosa, to see how much it had changed since we first found the place, in 2016.
