My father would be able to tell you what this was. I have no idea though. I would guess that the bars were some sort of cooling mechanism though?

What is a Dummy Load, you may ask? Well it is actually something that gets a decent result from Google.


A dummy load is a pure resistor of value 50 ohms which can replace your transmitting aerial and enable you to operate the transmitter for test purposes without radiating a signal.
