Kissonerga Community Beach May Update
Kissonerga Community Beach

The beach itself looks fine, though there are no sunbeds as of yet.

This is the view towards the Kissonerga Coast Path.
On Duty

Despite the lack of sunbeds, there was a lifeguard on duty. You can tell that because a red and yellow flag is flying. Note though, that there is also a red flag flying. This means the following:
Red – High hazard. Rough conditions such as strong surf and/or currents are present. All swimmers are discouraged from entering the water. Those entering the water should take great care.
Deceptively Calm

Given how calm the sea is here, you might be puzzled by the red flag. However, if you look at the big signs in the carpark you will see that the area is prone to riptides. So swim here at your own risk, and preferably near the lifeguard station.

Given that Alex was taking most of the shots, it is hardly surprising to see a picture of a bird in amongst her building shots. I will leave you with this sign that nature is returning to the recently traumatised area.
I don't know the long-term plans for the beach, but if you fancy a spot of sunbathing over the weekend (it is supposed to be a hot one), then you can come here safe in the knowledge that you can at least cool off with a shower!
