Greek Mythology At Paphos Mall
Back To Back

Medusa was the most famous of the monster figures known as Gorgons, sisters of Graeae, Echidna and Ladon - all dreadful and fearsome beasts. She was known to have hair made of snakes and an incredible ability to turn anyone she looked at to stone, literally to petrify. She was the exception in the family, until she incurred the wrath of Athena, either due to her boastfulness or because of an ill-fated love affair with Poseidon.

Missing Horn

Sharing the stage with Medusa is Minotaur.
Minotaur was one of the most famous and gruesome monsters in Ancient Greek mythology. He lived in Crete and had the body of a man and the head of a bull. It was the offspring of the Cretan Queen Pasiphae and a majestic bull. Due to the Minotaur's monstrous form, King Minos ordered the craftsman, Daedalus to build a huge maze known as the Labyrinth to house the beast. He was eventually killed by the Athenian hero Theseus.
Sirens

Half-birds, half beautiful maidens, monstrous sea-nymphs, the Sirens were singing enchantresses capable of luring the unwary to their death through their song. Odysseus asked his crew to tie him to the mast of the ship so he could hear their song while the men of the crew blocked their ears with beeswax to ignore his pleas to be untied (so that he could not leave the ship to join the sirens).
Scary Monster

The look of horror on this lady's face is genuine, as she realises she is luring people into Jumbo.
Up We Go

There is only one more exhibit to see on the top floor, but I want to finish at the Coffee Shop.
