Cyprus in Pictures - January, 2026

I doubt the plot of land for the new hotel will be the SODAP Beach Car Park. I know the land between there and Amphora Resort is empty, save for some newly planted trees by the coast path, so my guess would be there.

When the sea is rough you have to find other ways to get reflection shots.

Whenever gales appear in Cyprus, the topic of Coptic Storms inevitably surfaces. There is a calendar which predicts their arrival each year. If it is accurate, it gets credited with predicting it. But when it is completely wrong, it doesn't get mentioned. It is fun to argue about this on Social Media. Fair play, in January it was accurate. Mind you, predicting storms in January is hardly difficult. We will be monitoring the calendar over the coming year though, to see how it stands up over a longer period of time...

The presence or absence of the sea wall also gets mentioned every time there is a storm. Half of the small beach has a tendancy of ending up on the boardwalk, and calls for the wall to be returned resurfaced. However, the wall doesn't sop everything. If you walked from here to the harbour you would see that seaweed had been washed over the remaining wall.
Having said that, I barely notice the wall when I look out to sea from this area, so I don't see how extending it again would cause an issue.
SODAP Palms
The entire boardwalk got a bit of a battering.
