Coral Bay Strip Update - February 2024
Missing Supermarket

There used to be a supermarket there, but it looks like they are building something bigger now.

Pedestrianisation Puzzler

I had heard rumours that the Strip was going to be pedestrianised, so I put this to the Engineers. It turns out that this is not in fact the case. However, the pedestrian area and road will be on the same level, and be separated by bollards. This is like Paphos Seafront used to be.
End Of Phase 1

When we reached the end of the hardcore we could see why it was necessary. Beyond that the ground was much, much muddier. Eventually, in Phase 2, the hardcore will extend the whole length, and the road will be resurfaced.

Another concern had been the fate of the restaurants on the Strip. A few of them are still open, and accessed from the rear. A lot of the others are having some off-season TLC of their own. Pantelis (Municipal engineer and the coordinator of the project) stated that the business owners were on-board with the project, which is good to know.
It was also re-iterated that the main body of the project is on schedule to finish by the end of April. Indeed, Demetris stressed that both Pantelis and the Mayor of Peyia were closely monitoring progress.
