Sunbeds!

But let's not forget the all-important sunbeds. These are plentiful. Indeed, there is one for every guest, which is why they can be pre-allocated.

Modern Technology

Each sunbed has a QR code attached to it. If you scan that you can use it to order drinks and food, and get information about whats on, request help raising your parasol or ask for fresh towels if the pool services cabin is too far away! If you want to have a sneaky peak, then use the link below. Bear in mind though, that it is designed purely for mobile phones, so if you are using it on a laptop it will seem a bit "large".

This handy map shows where all the sunbeds are, and how they are allocated. if you aren't happy with your given location you can ask for it to be changed, too.

I took a lot of pictures of the pool because it was so beautiful. I will allow myself to share one more before moving on to other matters.

Ancient Tombs

Next to the pools, if you are paying attention, you will see some ancient tombs. That's right, in the centre of the hotel, there are some underground ruins that wouldn't look out of place in the archaeological park. A sign gives more information:

Ancient Tombs At The Alexander The Great Beach Hotel

During the excavations and building of the Hotel, Ancient Tombs have been discovered in the grounds and today, after being restored, they attract the interest of foreign visitors.

From studies by the department of Antiquities in Paphos, the following has come to light:

They are called "Eastern Necropolis", which was a cemetery of the Hellenistic & Roman period from 300BC to 300AD.

During the excavations, 18 tombs were discovered but 6 were considered of exceptional architectural interest as they are cut in the stone itself (Sarfogafe in the rock): the others were kept chambered.

A lot of interesting items were also found and they may be seen today at the Paphos Museum: Pottery, including amphoras from Rhodes, lamps, glass perfume bottles, coins of Bronze, Silver, Gold, as well as mirrors.

The tombs discovered which are chamber type, show a high social status of some families of the late second century after Christ, early 1st Cenury and during the Golden period which was a wealthy epoch for Paphos.
