There was a lower area that looked like it might go a bit further down, but on investigation it was actually just a recess.

Possible Tomb?

Who knows, perhaps it was originally a tomb?

Familiar Trappings

Despite the dark and gloomy setting, this church still seems to be in use. You can see an incense holder and an a burning candle. I think there are even a couple of votive offerings in the background.

Icons

There are also lots of icons dotted around the area. I imagine that glass vessel contains holy water.
