The Akamas Visitor Centre in Kathikas
The models were really nice. There was also a Cypriot hedgehog, which caused a bit of a stir. I commented that the Cypriot ones have bigger ears than English ones. I noticed that my guide seemed a bit puzzled by what I was saying, so I repeated it. She now looked very puzzled. It suddenly dawned on me that I had been somewhat ambiguous with my statement. I repeated myself again, making a point to specify that I was referring to Cypriot HEDGEHOGS, and not just Cypriots in general, and she gave a relieved laugh. She thought I was saying that all Cypriots had big ears.
And yes, I know why Cypriot hedgehogs have big ears - Noddy wouldn't pay the ransom.
Gorge Experience
The final section in this room is designed to resemble a gorge.
Bird Of Prey
There are lots of birds, mammals and reptiles on display. I have only photographed a few of them.
European Roller
I recognised this particular bird as a European Roller. They are quite distinctive, and I have them seen them particularly in the Xeros Valley near Foinikas.
Lecture Theatre
Once you are done with the gorge, you enter into this woodland glade. It is actually a lecture theatre and cinema, so take a seat and watch the film.
