The Amazing Agios Raphael
Crucifiction #1

If you have followed our blogs you will not be surprised to see the skull and crossbones at the foot of the cross.
Crucifiction #2

It signifies the earthquake that followed the crucifiction.
Crucifiction #3

If you are in a Cypriot church, look at the base of the main crucifix. You may well see a little skull and crossbones there too. Originally I thought it was an artist's signature, but somebody posted a comment after a blog explaining its true meaning.
This is what I want to happen with this blog. If you know anything about any of the images, please let me know, and I can update the blog to provide more useful information.

I have no idea what this one is supposed to represent, though there is a date on the inscription on the coffin lid: 1959.
Come To Pachyammos

Agios Raphael is well worth a visit. If you haven't yet been tempted to visit Pomos Harbour, bear in mind that this is only a few minutes up the road, so you can easily combine the two. Alternatively, give it a while and we will have finished our third Road Trip eBook. We will be covering this area and of course, this wonderful church will feature. So watch this space...

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
