Lovely Pita

I once asked why this was the case. Apparently, they did used to include them, but a lot of diners were only interested in the meat, so they stopped. So don't be afraid to ask for pitas. They are delicious, and great for mopping up rib sauce too.

Finger Bowl

The final ingredient to our meal was this. A delightfully thin consomme which acted as a simply divine palate cleanser before dessert. Unfortunately I had to use is to wash my rib sauce-encrusted fingers instead.

Verdict

Happy to report that they are still the nicest ribs I have had on the island. You get a decent-sized portion and the sauce is lovely. Coupled with the chips, side salad, and the pita graciously donated by the daughter, it really hit the spot.

Tasty Puds

A lot of Cypriot taverns don't have a pudding menu. It doesn't really figure in the diet to the extent it does in the UK. Instead, you will often get complementary fruit, or in this case, a cheesecake-like coconut dessert which is light and delicious. Don't expect it though, as it isn't mentioned on the menu. But if it arrives after you have finished, then take it from me, it is very nice.

Parking Fine

As we left, the restaurant was beginning to get crowded. I was grateful I had parked backwards, as it meant I could just drive out, rather than reverse down that narrow driveway.

Letymbou Tavern is a lovely restaurant, which we can heartily recommend. The best news though, is that the standard of food, and prices, (let's face it, the total bill for the three of us including drinks was only €40) is what you can expect from most village taverns in Cyprus. We will feature more of them in our blogs in the future. They have suffered just like other businesses in this pandemic, and they need all the support they can get. Besides, it isn't exactly a hardship - going out and having a lovely meal at the local tavern - is it?

From Pentalia to Polemi

A few weeks ago we produced a rather long film, showing a drive from Pentalia to Polemi. I was going to do a sped-up version, but I found the full version quite relaxing, especially with the soothing soundtrack, so I have left it alone. People were curious as to the route we took, so I retraced our steps, and stopped to take some photographs along the way...
