Paphos Sea Front Gales

Published 17th of January, 2026

Earlier in the week we had several days and nights of storms in Paphos, bringing some much needed rain. Winter gales are always a bit of a spectacle at the Sea Front, so I went down to record Mother Nature's handiwork.

As is traditional I will begin my adventure at the top end of the Sea Front, opposite Tea For Two and Pingouino's.

Distant Rain

Distant Rain

Actually that's not strictly true. I start taking the pictures at the Harbour Car Park, and walk up here. Then I do a film from here to the harbour. So basically you are seeing these pictures more or less in reverse order. And if you want to see the movie, you can check it out on Youtube here: Paphos Sea Front Storms.

In this shot it looks like the heavens are about to open, but it remained dry for the duration of my walk.

The Municipal Baths is the best area to sea waves at the Sea Front. So let's take a look.

I wasn't disappointed. I wasn't alone either! There were a number of people taking photographs here, so it is obviously a popular spot.

Fortunately, I had noticed an even better spot for photographs when I walked up here to begin my filming. The changing area by the Municipal Baths has some concrete seats, and you can stand on these to get a better view without (hopefully) getting wet.
