I think the fallen trees need a closer look. To get here I had to walk back over the bridge and along the nature trail. The one disadvantage about a full-flowing river is that you cannot cross it wherever you want.

When we tried to drive through the forest, we got half way before we met a farmer who told us the road was out. Well, I think that's what he told us. He spoke no English and my Greek is very limited. It's a myth that most Cypriots speak English. They don't. A lot of Cypriots who work in shops speak English, but it is by no means universal. My Greek needs to get better...

Now you know where all that mud we saw earlier on came from. A lot of the mud has also made it to the Water Treatment Centre, causing problems to the water supply. When you can see just how much water has flowed through here, you can understand why the infrastructure wasn't able to cope.

Anyway, yes, that farmer I mentioned. He was driving a truck and the back was full of logs. I had assumed he had been out creating some unofficial firewood. On seeing these trees I think he was probably just clearing up the mess.

That is supposed to be a road. I am sure that they will send a bulldozer through here soon to carve out a new one. The roads out in the wilds tend to get repaired fairly quickly if they are needed. The fire engines need good roads in the summer time, so repair is essential.
