More Erosion

As we walked towards the sea, we saw that the erosion continued. I wonder why there are these holes though? You would have thought that all parts of the road would have been equally likely to get washed away. but clearly this is not the case.

Arty Shot

This was an attempt at getting a nice reflection shot. If you look at the side of the hole though, you can see only stones and dirt. There is no rubbish here, which indicates it must have been hidden for a long time. This kind of erosion is not an annual event.

Finally we reach the beach.

The Old Memorial

And this is the memorial. There is a tragic story is behind this. A few years ago a pregnant lady and her young child were murdered in a crime passion by her jealous partner. You can read the story here. The shrine is traditionally guarded by lots of soft toys, but it looks like the waters have washed them away.

Happy Easter

We were out doing our Annual Easter Egg Hunt this morning. It took us down through the Esouza Valley, and finally to the sea. I won't be doing a blog article on the final part of this journey, as it isn't in the same league as the two sections I have previously blogged about. However, we did stumble across this shrine. At first glance, I took it as a typical shrine you see fairly frequently in Cyprus. However, a second glance revealed it to be rather unusual.

Kannaviou Countryside

You could be forgiven for thinking that the Ezousa Valley runs from the sea to Episkopi Village. But it continues through Letymbou all the way up to Kannaviou. And guess what? It's just as lovely up there.
