In our last film about St George's Beach area, we were asked a question about the strange looking monument that is nearby. So in this film we study it in some depth. It was erected to commemorate the start of the Armed Struggle against the British Occupiers of Cyprus, back in 1054. This was when Georgios Grivas arrived secretly in Cyprus. He then began forming EOKA, the National Organization of Cypriot Fighters. There is also a more traditional monument to the man to the side of this statue.
