From the forum:

'Il Vesuvio' opened last night, with a welcoming free Limoncello for all guests. After a slowish start the restaurant was nearly full by the time we left. The restaurant has a very extensive menu, put together by their Italian chef. With pride of place in the kitchen being given to a pizza oven, authentic, fresh-baked pizzas are an obvious speciality here, with many choices. However, our party choose to go for pasta dishes and one chicken meal. My risotto was fab, but there was so much of it and I failed to eat it all. The carbonara pasta was said to be good too, though both guests reported that they would like to have seen more carbonara sauce. A small but nice selection of Italian desserts at a very modest €4 each finished off the meal. But not quite... because we were then given, gratis, two large portions of a home-baked sponge with a nutty topping and oozing honey. It was gorgeous!

Without tip the meal came to €66 for four mains and three desserts, two large glasses of wine, one large and one small Italian beer...fantastic value! The service to start with was a bit slow and uncertain (main plates arriving at different times), but allowance has to be made for the fact that this was opening night. I can't say how this restauarant compares with other Italians, but we would certainly go back here and it is a very welcome addition to the local dining experience.
